Patricia Harris is a Project Associate at The Washington Group. Prior to joining our team she worked for 14 years at Georgia’s Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) serving in a number of positions, from direct services to administration, that gave her the unique opportunity to see the big picture and “connect the dots.” Patricia began her DFCS career in the largest county in Georgia and was responsible for managing all county-funded initiatives, including the Indigent Burial Program, S.A.F.E. Program, General Assistance and the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren programs. During this time, she was able to communicate directly with clients and become familiar with the socioeconomic challenges many of Georgia’s citizens face on a daily basis. Patricia then moved into a role at the central office in Atlanta and became intimately acquainted with the ins-and-outs of the federal and state requirements associated with administering client services. During her time working for the State of Georgia she developed a strong commitment to advocacy and a passion for helping citizens navigate the intricacies of Georgia’s child welfare system- – in fact, anyone who works with Patricia can see that compassion and a genuine heart for serving others are her driving force!
Patricia left her long-term position with DFCS just one month before her marriage to Kevin Harris, the college sweetheart she met while attending Georgia Southern University. In her free time she enjoys reading, singing and learning a variety of different arts and crafts.
